Google has updated its Contacts application and will now provide you with contact information for people who have not been saved in your Google Account. This will only work when searching for a contact. When you type in the search bar, your saved contacts will appear first and then contacts from your other Google accounts under “Other contacts”. Clicking on it will provide you with more information provided in the account associated with it. You can save them to your address book as well.
Other Contacts can already be viewed by going to contacts.google.com/other. With this update, these contacts can now be seen inside the Contacts app which makes it more useful. This update comes with the Contacts app version 3.17.1 and is the only change, according to the change record in the Play Store.
Android Police reports that this feature is also available on app version 3.15.2. The report also indicates that this could mean that Google is slowly rolling out the feature or is it server-side enabled.
The app can be downloaded from the Play Store or you can get the APK from the APK Mirror.
Gmail has this feature forever, if you type a contact’s name, it gives you all the relevant names associated with your Google Accounts. Regardless of when you last used this contact or when you received mail from the account.
Google Contacts allows you to create a cloud backup of the contacts saved in your Google Account so you can access them from any device. They can be organized into categories such as work and personal. Google Contacts also gives you an option to merge your duplicate accounts. If you have a device running Android Marshmallow or later, take the app from the Play Store.
