After South Korea’s LG Electronics and Swedish telecom giant Ericsson, Nvidia Graphics has now announced that it will not send its employees to the Mobile World Congress 2020 in Barcelona due to the public health risks around the Corona virus.
The Verge reported on Friday that NVIDIA was a major conference sponsor and partnered with the GSMA Conference Organizing Body to host a full set of 10 sessions and roundtables on artificial intelligence.
“Given the public health risks surrounding the HIV virus, ensuring the safety of our colleagues, partners, and customers is our primary concern. We look forward to sharing our AI, 5G and vRAN industry work with the industry, and we regret not being present, but we believe this is the right decision.” The company said.
As the rapid spread of Novel Coronavirus does not appear, industry watchers have also warned that others may soon follow suit.
According to Ericsson, the company has already taken a number of precautions to ensure the health and safety of its employees and reduce the impact on the company’s operations.
“After conducting a comprehensive internal risk assessment, Ericsson decided to take further precautionary measures by withdrawing from MWC Barcelona 2020, the largest event in the telecom industry,” she said in a statement.
Ericsson said as one of the biggest exhibitors, she has thousands of visitors in her hall every day, and even if the stakes are low, the company cannot guarantee the health and safety of its employees and visitors.
To showcase the company’s portfolio and innovations, Ericsson will take demos and content created for MWC Barcelona to customers in their local markets with local events called “Ericsson Unboxed”.
Earlier, LG Electronics said in a statement that taking into account the safety of its employees, partners and customers, “LG decided to withdraw from the show and participate in MWC 2020 later this month in Barcelona, Spain.”
GSMA, the regulator of the MWC, said it monitors and evaluates the potential impact of the Corona Virus on its annual events in Barcelona, Shanghai and Los Angeles, as well as Mobile 360 Series conferences for regional conferences.
After a report on ZTE’s cancellation of a press conference at MWC 2020 following the outbreak of the Corona Virus, major Chinese technology has made it clear that it will still have booth space at the exhibition and that its participation in this event will go “as planned”.
